Transit Sport International
Client Story: Launching an innovative new travel agency.
Transit Sport International is an exciting partnership between Montreal-based House of Travel and business partners Carl Lavinge and Jean-François Lebeuf. The company creates customized tours for sports teams, arranging transportation, games with opposing teams, and visits to cultural attractions. They turned to Digital Wind to define their web presence.
Defining the objectives
The TSI web site needed to communicate three things: Sports, tourism, and a corporate relationship with House of Travel.
The link between these three concepts are embodied in the TSI logo. The new design was based on the HOT logo, with the center O (which was a sunburst) replaced with an animation featuring sports equipment — a puck, a baseball, a soccer ball, etc. While much of TSI's business comes from hockey teams, the company's image needed to be wider than hockey alone.
The web site was designed to convey the tourism aspect. The central image of the front pages is a postcard, the main menu a boarding pass. The original design was a grungy, faded postcard that looked like it had been sent from the far side of the world. This look was toned down in favour of a cleaner, crisper image. The postcard itself contains a Flash animation that showcases actual customers of TSI in diverse locations around the world.
Web Design
The audience for the TSI web site comprises the parents and coaches of young athletes, who want to send their children abroad for an enriching experience. So the design was intended to be fun yet professional. Sky blue is a common corporate colour, yet combined with the slightly grungy postcard and boarding pass, the effect is less business-like and more cheerful.
The TSI web site was built using Web Standards, with CSS-based layout. This means the site is modular, easy to update and modify, and quick to download.
